The pewter cast iron of Pierre-Joseph LORTHIOR representing Queen Marie-Antoinette as she sits on her throne, holding the scepter in her right hand. An angel on a cloud presents to her a card with the combined badges of French and Austrian houses on it, this card is born of love. Registered «MARIE-ANTOINETTE D'AUTRICHE REINE DE FRANCE 1774», and signed «LORTHIOR IN. AND SC».

A handwritten inscription on the back tells us the date on which this medal was engraved: «September 26 or November of the year 1781 by Sieur Lorthior, engraver of the King's medals, who engraved the edge on steel and sold it... ».
