About

Acrylic on canvas, signed, dated, titled and bearing inventory number 1270 on the back. Made in 1988 on a previous idea of 1972. A certificate from Pierre Vasarely dated 20 September 2018 will be given to the purchaser.

« Many spectators find no explanation for the brightness of my compositions or the shadows they darken in places. That the radiant mood images of the Impressionists or the suns on the canvases emitted van Gogh's light - what was surprising about that? The subject matter unambiguously reinforced this illusion. In my compositions, there are no tangible references to objects, and yet light comes out of them! This surprising effect is the result of the rigorous permutation of my colour ranges. » (Victor Vasarely, in: Art of the 20th Century, Vol. II, Neuchâtel/Switzerland 1973)
